Remedial Massage
Remedial massage is the foundation of my practice — it’s where we begin when pain, restriction, or imbalance shows up in your body. It’s not just a feel-good treatment (although you may feel better afterwards); it’s a clinical approach designed to identify and address the source of pain or dysfunction. Through careful assessment, movement observation, and targeted manual therapy, I work with you to create real, lasting change in your body. If you’ve got chronic tightness, postural strain, old injuries, or just feel like something isn’t moving the way it should — remedial massage can help.
Assessment & Understanding the Issue
We begin with a focused conversation — what hurts, how long it’s been going on, and what makes it better or worse. I’ll assess your posture, mobility, and muscle function to identify the root cause of your issue, not just the symptom.
Discuss symptoms, pain patterns, and lifestyle impact
Conduct postural and movement assessments
Identify primary areas of dysfunction
Hands-On, Targeted Treatment
Using techniques like deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and stretching, I’ll treat the areas contributing to your pain or limited movement. This is interactive — I’ll check in often and adapt based on your feedback.
Apply appropriate pressure based on tolerance and response
Treat localised pain and contributing muscle groups
Use multiple modalities to address muscle, fascia, and nerves
Focus on restoring range of motion and relieving discomfort
Recovery Support & Follow-Up
Once the session is complete, we’ll discuss what we noticed and how your body responded. I’ll often give you suggestions for stretches, posture, or movement tips to support recovery between sessions. This is about building lasting change — not quick fixes.
Post-treatment recovery strategies
Stretching or mobility exercises tailored to your body
Advice for posture and pain management at work or home
Plan for further sessions if ongoing treatment is needed
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you might want to know before booking your massage — from health fund rebates to how to prepare for your session.
Do I need to know what kind of massage I want before I book?
Not at all. We'll talk through what's going on in your body and decide on the right approach together. You don't need to know the terms — just how you're feeling.
Can I claim through my private health insurance?
Yes. I’m a registered provider with most major health funds. You’ll receive an invoice after your session that you can submit to your fund for a rebate, depending on your level of cover.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Just wear comfortable clothes. You’ll be draped with towels during the massage and only the area being treated will be uncovered at any time.
I'm pregnant — is massage safe for me?
Absolutely. I offer safe, professional pregnancy massage with supportive positioning and techniques appropriate for each trimester.
Will it hurt?
Massage should never be painful. Some techniques may feel intense, but we’ll always work within your comfort zone. I’ll check in regularly and adjust as needed.
How long is a session?
Sessions typically run for 60 or 90 minutes, depending on what we’re working on. If you're unsure what to book, feel free to get in touch.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Life happens! Just give as much notice as you can. I appreciate at least 24 hours’ notice so I can offer your spot to someone else.
Where is your clinic located?
I work from a private clinic in Ranelagh, Tasmania — just a few minutes from Huonville. The full address is provided when you book.
Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes, absolutely. Massage makes a thoughtful, practical gift. You can contact me directly to organise a digital or physical voucher.
